ABOUT THE WOMEN
AFC Pegasus Women represent the senior women’s section of AFC Pegasus, a rapidly growing, community focused football club based in Colchester, Essex.
​
Established in 2021, the women’s team continues to provide a welcoming, ambitious environment where players can develop, compete, and enjoy their football. For the 2026/27 season, the team will compete in the Essex County Women’s Premier Division, offering an exciting opportunity to rebuild, strengthen the squad, and lay the foundations for future progression.
​
Our ethos is rooted in development, positivity, and ambition. We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that enables female players of all abilities to grow both on and off the pitch while enjoying the game.
​
Training takes place on Wednesday evenings at Stanway School, with a focus on teamwork, development, confidence, and creating a positive footballing experience for everyone involved.
​
As we enter this new chapter, we are currently seeking a new First Team Manager to lead the squad into the 2026/27 season. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and committed individual to help shape the future of women's football at AFC Pegasus, working within a supportive, community driven club with ambitions for continued growth and success.

A BREIF HISTORY

Debut Season: Our First Team joined the Essex County Women’s Football League Division Two.

Unbeaten Run: Completed a flawless league campaign over 14 games, earning promotion at the first attempt.

County Cup Final: Reached the Essex County Women’s Trophy Final, narrowly losing 2–0 to Barking FC

Step Up: Promoted to the Essex County Women’s Football League Premier Division, the league’s top flight for our region.

Division Winners: Dominated the Premier Division with just one loss, clinching the title and achieving a second promotion, this time to Tier 6 (Eastern Region League)

Eastern Region Debut: Our First Team entered the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division One South (Tier 6), holding their place through a competitive season

Reserves Launched: Joining the Essex County Women’s League Division Three, delivering an impressive inaugural season with second-place finish, 83 goals scored, and only 10 conceded in 14 games—securing promotion to Division Two

First Team: Competing again in Eastern Region League Division One South, and have made club history by reaching the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Women’s FA Cup

Reserves Team: Competing in the Essex County Women’s League Division Two, finished 3rd and won the Essex County League Plate. A fantastic season that highlights their rapid progress and growing strength.

First Team: Marking the club's final season in the Eastern Region Women's Football League Division One South. Following careful consideration, the decision was made to step into a new chapter and compete at a different level, providing the opportunity to rebuild, strengthen the squad, and work towards returning to higher tiers when the time is right.

Reserves Team: Finished in an impressive 5th place in the Essex County Women's Division Two. The season also marked the end of an era for the Reserves side as the club consolidates into a single senior team. We remain committed to player development and hope to reintroduce a reserve squad in the future as the women's section continues to grow.
